S.A.L.S.A. has several programs which focus on furthering the organizational goals of bringing the study of the Second Amendment to the nation's law schools.
Scholarships The primary way S.A.L.S.A. promotes the study of the Second Amendment is by offering scholarships for written works. These scholarships offer financial rewards to students who take the time to research, analyze and write essays and scholarly works.
Speakers Program By setting up a list of scholars who are available to speak to law schools and/or debate university professors about Second Amendment related topics, S.A.L.S.A. will help provide information and new and different views of the Second Amendment. S.A.L.S.A.. will help interested student organizations locate these speakers and help them bring these individuals to their campuses through financial assistance.
Internet Database S.A.L.S.A. will maintain and update an online database of Second Amendment cases from both Federal and State courts. These will provide students an easy way of finding pertinent decisions to help them with their research of the Second Amendment. Also, a database of laws from the 50 states as well as Federal gun laws will be provided.
Newsletter A quarterly newsletter will be published which will contain articles of interest pertaining to the right to keep and bear arms. This will be the primary means of keeping students up to date with Second Amendment issues.
Student Groups As part of S.A.L.S.A.'s long term vision for change in U.S. law schools, student groups will be formed within each law school with the mission of facilitating the above stated goals. Since S.A.L.S.A. is primarily a student oriented organization (where the students control the means and objectives instead of the faculty) these groups will help ensure that the study of Second Amendment Law is adequately achieved in their individual law schools.
